This would usually be hearing, vision and touch.

Also there is a threshold of passive -> interactive -> exclusive -> inclusive.

Lots of screen time creates very inclusive opportunities.

I read an article from the Mad in America website which was being followed by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

It was this Romanian psychologist who was observing ... wait for it ... virtual autism ... in the iPad generation.

And he and his co-researcher did a video in French; which came to Anglophone screens everywhere.

Marilyn Wedge on virtual autism - mentions the Romanian

This is the example which made me growl - I might have seen similar things on the Autism Discussion Page:

"In one French case study, a father who displayed Asperger-like symptoms in his own childhood “treated” his severely autistic 2 1/2 year old by removing screens (which he was watching four to six hours a day). The father also began intensive play sessions with his son. The young boy fully recovered."

[ancedotal evidence I know!].

I like to read classical literature, modern American literature, drama and poetry. And iBooks being a separate app loaded during iOS 8 and 9 was a boon. Finally after 17 years I can enjoy the ebook as it was intended and that I dreamed of in the early 2000s.

And I do use it to look up football scores and dates for Grand Finals.

Have also read a good thing about Stoticism which points out everything takes space. And I do think the Stotics would be in favour of screen time; given what I know of their principles.

It also made me reinvestigate THE INFINITE WISDOM OF HARRIET ROSE which is about a teenage girl engaging in philosophy.

Some of my favourite videos on the iPad were philosophical too in about 2011-13.

And are children expected to use screen time in little bites like the adults around them? "One bite and try it" like good food?

And yay for apps like FlipWriter.

Yay - for searchability.

Kids are supposed to be working on searching and exploring and they can do this with screen time.Adelaide Duponthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01490123934889071074noreply@blogger.com
