And today I do not executive function.

Seriously. I apparently don't today. I have not managed to do:

The papers I'm supposed to grade.
The Chinese homework due last Wednesday.
The Chinese homework due today.
Any notecards whatsoever.
An intro paragraph or anything.
Any of what I had planned for today.
The econ homework due tomorrow.
The engineering design homework due tomorrow.
The engineering analysis homework due tomorrow.

Instead, I have:

Found yet more sources because I always need more sources.
Eaten junk food.
Talked to people about a completely different autism-related project (Autism 101 for a Splash.)
Argued with some people on tumblr.
Discussed ableism on facebook.
Tracked down the people who linked to my blog for a shout-out note.
Written this.

Some Petitions and Why You Should Care

Chairman Murphy and Ranking Member DeGette: Stop threatening the HIPAA rights of people with psychiatric disabilities
They called HIPAA rights related to psychiatric disabilities a security risk. Which makes no sense, since we're more likely to be victims of violence than the general population, not more likely to be the perpetrators. Also, people with disabilities were excluded from the conversation about this. Which is bad.

Gemino Healthcare Finance: Terminate your relationship with the Judge Rotenberg Center

Petition to JRC to stop Painful Electric Shocks on Students.
The shock treatment in question is considered torture by the UN. People with disabilities are human. This is therefore a human rights issue. Also, torture and causing PTSD is not the way to deal with behavior problems, ever. This petition aims to stop this ``treatment." It has been banned for all new students, but is still allowed for any students who were already being shocked.
Specific to Gemino's relationship with the Judge Rotenburg Center: They have blocked the Change.org servers. If you want them to actually get the petition letter, you have to email them yourselves. End Sexual Assault Through Education
Sexual assault is a big problem. The statistics in the petition are bad. They are even worse for people with disabilities. Education helps. Make it happen.

Alabama: End the law that forces teachers to lie and tell students that it's illegal to be gay.
Yes, there is such a law. Please don't tell me I need to say more than that.

Office for Judicial Complaints: Judge Roger Keen apologise and commit to protecting LGBTQ/disabled youth!
Roger Keen is the judge who referred to a gay autistic teen being lit on fire at his 18th birthday party (fatally- he died of the burns) as a prank gone wrong, light-hearted, rather than as the hate crime that it was. Disability discrimination and hate crimes are things, and they need to be recognized as such.

Bill Hazel, Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Services: Give Jenny Justice and Bring Her Home!
Jenny has Down's Syndrome and has been stuck in a group home against her will ( and also against the will of the people she had been living with.) She has been denied communication with her friends after stating that she wished to go back to them. Let it be known that her right to self-determination should be respected.

Co-Founders of Sprouts Market: Stop Endorsing Autism Speaks! Sprouts Market endorses Autism Speaks, an "autism advocacy" organization that is actively harmful for many autistic people. The incidents cited in the petition include Autism Speaks threatening suit against an autistic minor who made a (legal) parody site and other incidents of attempting to silence autistic people.

Walmart: Don't Target Autstic Children: Remove Autism Speaks "school supplies" from your stores.
Autism Speaks has supplies in Walmart now. Autism Speaks is not good for actual autistic people. Thus, there is a petition asking Walmart to stop selling these school supplies.

1,000,000 People for Better Lives for Adults With Autism!.There aren't nearly enough supports for autistic adults. Just because I don't need them myself doesn't mean I don't think we need more! Any idea how many autistic adults are un/underemployed? It's way more than the ``normal" unemployment rate, and it's not because of inability to do the jobs.

Stuff you might want to know

1) When describing the fact that I am autistic, I am autistic, I am an autistic, or I am an autistic person. I do not ``have autism" and I am not a ``person with autism." I respect the way you want to be described, and you do the same for me.
2) I don't like Autism Speaks. If you want to know why, you can one of my posts where I talk about them. You could also go watch the videos ``Autism Every Day" and ``I Am Autism" and think about how someone autistic would feel watching those, if you can find the videos. (Trigger warning on them if you can find them!)
3) I found a free text to speech program that lets me save the recordings, and I am in the process of putting the recordings on Soundcloud ( http://soundcloud.com/yes-that-too/). However, I can only host some of my recordings there for free, so contact me if you want a recording of any post that isn't there or if you have any other accessibility needs.
4) I have put trigger warnings at the top of posts that need them. I also have the tags "Trigger Warning" and "Trigger Free." If you think something needs a trigger warning that it doesn't have, feel free to let me know, but I think I got it. Assume a trigger warning for my blogroll and all links unless told otherwise.
5) I speak Chinese. I'll usually explain a word I use at least the first several times, but there's a glossary when I forget.
6) I will also be translating some posts into Chinese. Part accessibility to people who know more Chinese than English, part exercise to be better at Chinese. Those posts will be labeled as ``Chinese Translation," "中文," all the original labels, and Chinese translations of the most relevant labels.
7) If you have a post you want translated from Chinese to English or English to Chinese, TALK TO ME.
8) This is a blog about everything. Autism and disability tend to be dominant, but not everything I write about has anything to do with autism. Similarly, not everything on my "Stuff I Read" is related to autism or disability.
